If your computer came with genuine Microsoft branded media,
or you bought retail media
see
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;%5BLN%5D;326246
otherwise contact your computer maker for their media,
replacements.

Possibly, but on the off-chance he's not:

Call MS at 800-325-1233 if OEM dealer has gone out of business and you
need to replace a CD. Naturally they will want some proof of purchase.
Otherwise, go to the school's bookstore (if a college) and buy the
operating system.

Only the computer manufacturer who originally provided that OEM CD
along with the computer can supply you with the proper replacement.

Go to the store and buy Windows, you need a retail unless
you are willing to format and do a clean install of an OEM
of the type that Microsoft sells for small builders.

How did you manage to smash it? Did you take it through a car wash?

I once thought I'd lost my Windows 98 cd, and I didn't get any
sympathy either. You're screwed, basically, and will have to buy
another copy.
