XP Preinstallation?

Just received my long awaited shipment from Newegg. I've never installed an OS before. What is the purpose of the Windows XP Preinstallation disc that came along with the XP CDROM? Do I even need to use it?

No clue. Never heard of that before. Just slap in the XP disk and off you go. Check out the other cdd once everything is installed. Might have a service pack on it or something like that.

Pre-Installation suggests that you use the disk BEFORE you install XP. Will probably be either a compatability check disk, or something advertising the benfits of XP.
