XP Prof SP2 CD-Rom/Printer Driver int\stall issus

I am trying to re-install my Canon Pixma MG3200 software after having my system cleaned and stripped down by my father in law. I now am only bare bones with XP Service Pack to for an operating system. I have the disc the printer came with, previously used the Windows 7 but after a few years needed a wash.... My FIL had me check the print spooler, look for install hardware online and check a few other things. Now I think the DVD (Disk F) is not working. It does not respond... i can hear the disk spinning on and off, however nothing happens. I also tried to download driver.....however, my system cannot locate when it downloaded to.....HELP!
