I have a compy that needs to have its hard drive wiped and XP reinstalled. I
want to make sure don’t lose any of my information in the process, but the
default “save files and settings†has never worked correctly for me, though
my only experience has been from a couple win98se boxes to XP.
I currently have XP Pro on the c: partition of a 60GB drive, with 10GB being
in that partition. The other partition has not been used much.
I have a freshly wiped and NTFS formatted 30GB hdd that I am thinking about
using. I am considering making it the master, doing a fresh install of XP Pro
on it, then transferring the files with the “save files…†prog. I think that
installing onto a fresh drive that is master would make the system dual boot,
but I am not sure.
Either way, most of the data that needs to be saved is on the current c:
partition of the 60GB drive, and I don’t want to lose any of it.
If anyone knows of a good, well tested, tried and true resource, I would be
much obliged.
Any help will be appreciated.
Much love!
