A small company I do computer work for is still in the stone age and uses a DOT Matrix printer connected via LPT to print address labels. A few of their computers are starting to fail so I replaced with with new Dells running W8.1 64 bit. That didn't go well, and their DOS based programs didn't run. I installed XP in Virtual Box and it does manage, but isn't graceful. And the Dells don't have LPT ports, and USB to LPT doesn't work for them.

Anyways, I'm looking at building small XP SP3 based computers to do what they want. They aren't connected to the internet, and don't need to be anything fancy, so I'm thinking of basing them on the ASRock Q1900B http://.
ASRock does not supply XP Drivers, but it seems Intel seems to. Will XP install with all the drivers on this board? I can't seem to find anything online about people running XP on Baytrail...
I'd scrounge around for used stuff, but the want new only, and I figure a native LPT makes life easy, and whenever they come out of the stone age, they'd have enough power to run W7/8 for what they do.

Thanks!

You will have to search around for XP drivers for each individual component and may have to use generic drivers to make it work. Obviously, if you're building a computer that will face the internet for a small business, using XP is pretty risky.

The problem with the DOS emulator was 2 fold... 1) The program would hang doing a few things 2) It doesn't solve the issue of no onboard LPT. Thanks for the suggestion tho. Dos won't print to USB and the LPT addin cards have never been reliable for me.

The boxes will never see the internet as long as they have XP on them. Ever. They are run by people in their 60's and 80's that curse cable TV and have no idea what email is other than it doesn't come from the post office. The children are working on updating how the company works, but until the seniors pass, they have to run XP or older (they run 95/98 on 1 box, and vintage 1999 Mac on 2 others).
