Upon boot USB ports function, as soon as XP starts power/control of USB is lost. Seems like it's got to be XP drivers. BIOS settings are checked and correct. No PS/2 ports. I didn't try booting into Safe Mode DOS/command but expect USB functionality. I cosidered a PS/2 card but was disillusioned to read, "PCI to USB vith PS/3 connectors." Seems like USB Root Hub is disconnected or deleted. And to the obvious question: It worked and then it didn't work. We had just installed a 3rd HDD and new hardware was identified on next boot. (Subsequently removed. Never regained USB control.) Thank you in advance for your suggestion. J
