Hello guys recently my xpg s40g died on me. When i woke up my pc from sleep it just died and now i want to buy a new nvme for my boot drive and i was between the samsung 980 (500gb) , 970 evo plus (250gb) or s40g (256GB) the price difference between the 980 and s40g is the same but if i want to go for the 970 evo plus i have to pay $20 more and i was wondering if its a worth upgrade over the other 2 ssds also i heard that dram less ssds are not fast for boot drives thats why i am between the 970 evo plus and xpg s40g

You probably mean 980 EVO. 970 evo plus is much better and faster. )(=PRO is different story but also more expensive than those two. It's true power is released only when on MB with M.2 NVME PCIE x4 v4 slot...

Otherwise recommendation is for Samsung 970 Evo plus. worth 20 bucks more.

Unless your writing big chunks of data you won't see a diff with the 980.
Read speed....no diff.
