I've suicided about half a dozen more or less ascendable monks
after accidentally breaking a conduct. (Pickaxe accidents,
crossbow accidents, gray ooze accidents and such.)

This one had an extremely nice early game, but in the second
half things started getting harder (and more exciting).

Started with a magic marker (all of it went on SoIDs).

Fido bought it in a rock trap on Dlvl:2 again.

First level of the mines was bones. Some stupid wannabe
pacifist and his BIG, UGLY, SCARY DOG. One ration later - it
is now my BIG, UGLY, SCARY DOG. (Eventually died to a watch
captain out of my LOS.)

Minetown temple was cross-aligned, but Izchak had two magic
lamps, and one of them was pre-blessed. Went on the Eye.
Soko had an AoR, which was bloody nice, although inventory
management started getting hairy.

Back to the mines, and lo' and behold! there's another magic
lamp on the level just below the Minetown. Orb of Fate,
please. Thanks a lot.

Mine's End was Wine Cellar. I've found a touchstone somewhere,
but it was uncursed, and I had no holy water, so I just named
all the gems and raised my luck with a gray unicorn on Soko 3.

ID was very tough on me again.

Around Dlvl:10 I got crowned again, and vegan started becoming
a huge problem. I still had one magic lamp left, but no holy
water to bless it, and, anyway, I was reluctant to drain it
for a wish with smoky extra healings. Dived deeper into the
dungeon, no altars. Around Dlvl:15 I realized that there was
an altar in the Monk's Quest. Had to go back to Minetown
to gulp down a couple of PoGLs to get to Clvl:14, was already
hungry when I got back to Quest Home with my wands and a bunch
of waters and extra healings. Wands were mostly producing
peaceful earth elementals so in the end I had to pray for food
and holy water when still only getting hopeful feeling.
Luckily, it worked. 16 blessed extra healing produced just two
djinnies, and one of them was tame. Still, I was very happy
with my new blessed ring of slow digestion. (I was also
happy to find out that I *didn't* have one among my unid'ed
rings.) Now things were much easier for me. I dived deeper,
finding a small coaligned temple at Dlvl:20, and Medusa just
below it. (Ludios and Big Room didn't exist in this game.)

Then I started messing up my game again. I really should quit
playing after 2am. Me being sleepy does horrible things to my
chars.

Well, I fell into the lake again, and my char dropped a bunch
of items, including my sack with All The Nice Stuff. I
levelported out, and managed to recover it all eventually with
some help from cones of cold and a pickaxe.

Castle was at Dlvl:25, and I've found a pair of GoP and a
wand of death just before reaching it. Clearing out the
baddies took some thinking (and Elberething), but I claimed
a Hawaiian shirt and a (0:2) WoW. Wished for BoH, speed boots,
blessed spellbook of identify and a magic marker.

Genocided hs, Ls, cs. Enchanted my stuff.

All of a sudden the char started looking real good. Took out
Kaen in melee without too much trouble (WoD didn't work),
worked on skills (basic in shuriken and crossbow, basic in
all spell skills, skilled in healing and clerical), tried
to unrestrict daggers by getting Magicbane, but after a real
long sac session only got Giantslayer and Frost Brand, plus
the Sunsword from some Aleax. Drank some more PoEHs, got
another wish, and wished for a spellbook of magic mapping.

Proceeded to deal with the Valley, collecting stuff, looting
graves and...

WAIT A MINUTE!

WHERE THE *HELL* IS MY BAG OF HOLDING?!

..
..
..

*D'OH!!!*

I guess that ebony wand was cancellation... (Russian readers
of the group should be really amused with the wordplay.)

Well, it's not like it made my life hell, but losses were
heavy. WoW (1:1), two WoDs, spellbooks of identify, remove
curse and magic mapping, rings of levitation, conflict and
regeneration, all my wands of fire and some other nice stuff.

Luckily I had a backup BoH by now (picked up in the Valley,
I think), but I got really annoyed and decided to go through
Gehennom real fast. And that I did - just magic mapped
everything, then went for the downstairs without even picking
up stuff. Bribed off Asmodeus and Baalzebub. Juiblex fell
easily, but that bastard Orcus managed to empty his wand.
Dlvl:44 had the portal, and Vibrating Square was on Dlvl:48.
Fell into water a couple more times while dealing with all
those water creatures in all those moats.

Found another magic marker. Genocided Rs, wrote some
chargings.

Ok, went back to my stash at Quest Home, and prepared for the
final dive.

Rodney fell to WoD, Moloch's Sanctum was done with conflict
again, but Rodney waited for me on the upstairs.
Double-troubled, stole the Amulet and the Eyes. I got the
Amulet back, but the clone escaped. "Aw, what the hell!"
I thought, "I'll just go on! It's not like I needed those
glasses." I was really low on scrolls/wands of teleport
this time (thanks to exploding BoH), so I had to walk quite
a bit. Malignant auras were severe, but I easily remedied that
with 'remove curse'. Mysterious force wasn't much trouble
before and after the Orcus' Town, but I had to travel that
damn level seven times.

Ran out of teleports around Medusa's.

Rodney showed up again around Oracle's, and immediately
double-troubled. Fortunately I was able to take out the one
with the Eyes in melee, and the other one fell to my (formerly
Orcus') WoD.

Planes weren't too hard, - although water creatures on the
Water Plane were an unpleasant surprise, and Rodney showed
his ugly face on Air, too, - but on Astral I had to fight
all three Riders again. Nevertheless, they couldn't stop me,
even when I ran out of charges for the WoD. I wasn't really
afraid of Pestilence with 'cure sickness' at 0% failure, I
had quite some rations for Famine, and Death, well, it'd take
him too long to kill me. Especially with conflict.

I didn't think to teleport within levels on the way up on my last
ascension. I wanted to save my teleport wands for the astral plane for
clearing things out of my way. But I had a ton of scrolls I could have
used to telport between stairs. I guess I wouldn't have had to kill
the WOY so many times if I did that.

You learn something new every day, I guess.
