YAGBU? (Giant bee warrior seems to be confused...)

I've recently started experimenting with orcish paladins, who start
with everburning torch in the left hand. One of my PCs encountered
a hive on PC:3. To my surprise, I started seeing messages "The giant
bee warrior is irritated by the smoke of your torch" or something in
that style, followed by several "The giant bee warrior seems to be confused".
I haven't experimented with this enough (having killed 78 giant bee
warriors, my PC died miserably to 79th 🙁 ), but it might be worth
mentioning.
