Yet Another Late Observation....

Usually, I think of a dangerous pet as one
I don't want to meet in a bones file, but I just picked up one who's
caused me some grief just walking around next to me.

I just fed a chameleon corpse in minetown to one of my dogs, who became a
chickatrice. Handy, I thought, and the shopkeepers are still safe for a
while. As soon as we went down to the next level we encountered one of my
favorite mines monsters, and things went very wrong.

Piker bites the paper golem.
Piper touches the paper golem.
The paper golem solidifies...
Now it's a stone golem.
The stone golem hits Piker.
The stone golem hits!

so I've dashed back upstairs a moment to heal and test some wands....

I would have never thought that a non-flesh monster could
be petrified by a cockatrice.

Yeah, I remember the first time I attacked a horde as a cockatrice
after a nicer-than-usual polymorph accident. In my case it was a flesh
golem, but the principle's still the same: you go from 'no problem' to
'uh-oh...' in one hit.

Why would that be of importance? Price-id?

I would classify this as a bug. Unless the paper
golem is made from acid-free paper, maybe..

Best,
