YANI: ungenocide

Perhaps via a curse of a deity or a powerful priest or wizard, or even
through a fluke from reading the wrong scroll at the wrong time, a
previously genocided species could be ungenocided, and several creatures of
that species could be summoned into existence. They would exist, of course,
with a newly added special vendetta of hunting down and enacting revenge on
the player, and possibly all of the player's race. The effect would be
especially gruesome if the player had the 'forsight' to genocide a rather
powerful or nasty species.

Nice! Maybe call it genesis instead of ungenocide though. Also, maybe
it could have a chance of bringing into being some especially fearsome
species that you wouldn't have had to deal with otherwise.

Or how about "intelligent design manifested"?

Genesis?! Genesis is planet forbidden! There will be fees many!

Fees?! How can there be fees to do a damn illegal thing?!

I'm not sure about the cadence. How about "spawn lesser servitor race"
? There's a conspicuous absence of headless behemoths with mouths in
the palms of their hands, don't you think?

I wasn't thinking specifically of a new spell / scroll, although
'genesis' is an interesting suggestion for a name. A new fearsome
species is another good idea; NH typically deals with that when a
player reaches a certain depth in the dungeon.

I was thinking more of, if a player were to maybe read a cursed scroll
of genocide while blind, hallucinating, and confused (or some
combination of whoopses), the effect would instead undo a previous
genocide, with a possibility of a summoning.

Or perhaps the High Priest of Moloch gets mad at you for 'trying to
kill him' (whatever). "Fool! Now you shall be thwarted by your own
arrogance!" Suddenly Liches, Master Liches, Arch Liches, etc., are all
no longer genocided, and a hoarde of them appears around you, ready to
kill and/or curse all of your belongings.

It would be funnier if a 'less powerful yet still annoying' species was
picked to be ungenocided and summoned, such as rust monsters... because
it would be extremely easy to waste the lot, however the/your player's
character might lose a few vital points of AC in the process.
