Yarrr Cant get win 98 to load

Ive just put a computer together yesterday and it has been working perfectly but all of a sudden it cant get past the startup screen, if i restart i get some sort of message about a windows protection error, i am able to get into safe mode but i have no idea what i need to do, can anyone help Thanks

Well i have figured out it happens when i install the modem, when i erased its drivers and such it booted up fine, the only problem now obviously is how to get it to not do that... any suggestions of what might be wrong, the error that comes up is a windows protection error

mobo- ga-7vrxp
xp 1800
maxtor harddrives raid 0
512 ram
radeon 8500

did you check for updated modem drivers? (assuming of course you have net access from another pc...)

I would put it back in and keep trying. If you have any problems loading the drivers I would get suspicions. If still didn't work I would reinstall windows fresh with the modem in, since you just put it together yesterday. Last a new modem.
