My best effort so far:

Oober hadn't been wearing the Tele ring long; just needed it to get out
of a room with no apparent exits that he'd used his last Scroll of
Phase Door to phase into. It was his downfall; he teleported into the
midst of Grishnakh's escort and a pack of Light Hounds, and he couldn't
zap that Staff of Cure Medium Wounds fast enough. Might have been a
good time to quaff that Potion of Speed, hmm....

His strategy was to put most of his combat skill into Karate, with a
weapon to swap in for killing ghosts; lacking SI really stinks in Sang.
He was pumping XP into Nature Lore for the healing ability at level
50; nearly there, though it wouldn't have helped in his final fight.
Dodging and Spell resistance are both needed for any sang char; imho,
the disarming was there for the free XP from traps, the perception to
allow him to hoard scrolls of ID. The magic device I didn't bother
with until I turned up the Staff of Cure Medium.

Ironman characters aren't usually something I'm into; the comp is a
nice change of pace. Lack of healing and teleport is really very
painful.

You've gotten a little further than me. Don't feel bad, my best
character died because Bullroar stole all his spell books at 600'. Now
that was annoying.
