Yellow exclamation on network icon. Trouble shooting says Local Area Connection does not have a valid ip

I tried installing lan driver thinking it was missing from my PC as there was no connection. But it was for Windows 7 and my os was win10. There was some error during the installation. Then I uninstalled the driver. However it changed the values of ipv6. And the connection was not there. Tried a lot of stuff by googling. Nothing happened. Then reinstalled Windows 10 but no luck. Then installed Windows 7 and installed that lan driver. This time it installed without any problem. But still no connection. I am frustrated after spending many hours behind these. Typing in an old tab that does not function well. Not sure if I have explained my problem clearly.

Do other devices connect to the internet without issue, from your network?

Thanks for your response. Yes, my tab connects to the network and I am using that right now. The problem seems to be with the PC. I tried to use the cable from the modem directly but it did not work. Now the connection to PC is from the router

Found the problem. It was the cable that was causing the problem. Changed that and connection was back
