My Pc hard drive went so at the same time as a new hard drive, I thought I would use an ASROCK 775i65GV motherboard with a faster processor attached that I was given.

It doesn't work. I suspect that it is due to the 4 pin 12v power supply socket not being compatible with the yellow 4 pin plug on the ATX power supply out of my old machine. The shaped parts in the plug are like a mirror image. I have kept a duff ATX power supply and that 4 pin plug does fit.

Do I need an adapter or a special power supply?

It isn't an answer, just more info. The only 4 pin plug (with a yellow plastic casing) on my 400W ATX power supply has a black, yellow, orange and a red cable. The other broken power supply has two yellow and two black.

I am more confused now.!
