I never had noticed the little burning skeletons that jump out of the
lava in Act IV. Either that or my old card did not show them for some
reason.
Anyway, I created a new Ladder account (weresofa, us west of course)
and started a Hammerdin, mainly because I have never played one at all
so I figured that if I wanted something fast and easy I should try
something that is new to me. The break from the game was long enough
apparently, as I have really been enjoying playing.
Made it to level 25, playing solo and ended up at the River of Flame
waypoint when I quit for the evening. Only started using the hammers
a lot in Act IV, and even now I run out of mana too fast. So far I
like the skill fairly well but I have trouble hitting monsters because
they want to run up to me and slap me around and as soon as they get
close, I fail to hit them. For big crowds I can concentrate on one
critter next to me and it gets everything else but then I have that
one critter to kill afterwards. I had a lot of trouble with Hephatso,
I ended up using over a dozen blue pots by the time I had killed him.
I basically ran out ahead of him and tried to get some hammers going
for him to walk through and then when he caught up with me I ran off,
tedious as hell. But I suspect as I play around with it I will
improve at targeting. I hope so at least.
I will need to improve on my targeting skills between now and
Nightmare as I am taking way too much damage to survive in battles in
the other difficulties with the harder hitting monsters. I do have
horrible equipment and as I find some things that suit a hammerdin,
that will improve the going a bit.
One thing I have noticed is no uniques or set items have dropped.
Before with 1.10 characters I always found at least four or five by
the time I had made it through a difficulty.
