Please spec me a gaming rig based on the following:

Canadian $
Budget $1000-$1200
Buying within next 3 months

Will be buying monitor & Windows 10(thought I read somewhere persons with disability can get OS for free. Anyone confirm?)

1080 - 1440 resolution

Games: red dead 2, various online shooters: valorant, overwatch etc. not interested in VR. I want to be able to buy any game and not worry about specs required

May stream a little but nothing serious/long term

Don’t care about glass windows or lighting in case but want USB in front of case as well as rear.

Thank you

the free win 10 for disabled users applied to the upgrade from win 7 or 8. not simply a free key to install it.

either way, the free update still works for many people if you do have a valid win 7 or 8 key.

i also agree with tennis2, that you should wait until you are ready to buy before pricing a system. prices change by the hour along with supplies. 3 months from now who knows what will be out, available and priced right to buy. you can start looking at motherboard features to see what you may want but i'd not limit myself to a specific build until you are ready to pull the trigger. we're good at quickly making solid bang for the buck builds and can do it the day you want to buy if you'd like :)

Understood.
Are the prices above regular prices or do you find they are all inflated due to supply chain issues etc?
As was mentioned in another response I may post this same request again in a few months when things hopefully loosen up price/supply wise

the power supply is really the only truly overpriced item on the list, though motherboards have been really overpriced lately as well.

these 2 items more than anything are really low stock, while the rest is not so bad anymore. but day to day everything changes especially with sales and such. for instance i bought my 3700x for $275 on a super sale and now that is just about the normal price for it. but the mobo i paid $119 for is now closer to $175 if you can even find it in stock anywhere.

By getting a mock up of potential parts now, it gives me an idea of where to start looking. I walk away from hardware info and come back a year later and have to start all over again with the self education on what's what.
I'm still banging away on an old i5-2500k and I remember looking one time and seeing an i3-8100 and thought "well I have an i5 so mine must be better" lol.

I will wait for a few months as suggested even though I'm a "I have it in my mind so I MUST have it right now" type of person. New & better is always coming out and I never buy the newest, shiniest, most expensive. I'm a middle of the road type of guy on everything. But prices on the hardware that gets bumped down the hierarchy chain will be better for sure.
Sorry for the ramble. I type really fast so I spew these out really quickly. :)
