Yet another Haswell-E post

Hi everyone, I am new to posting here but I have been a Tom's reader for years now.

Simply looking for a couple opinions - I am planning to build a new rig in the next few months for gaming (probably in a Fractal Define Mini), and I am hopeful that my next pc gives me the longevity that my current Q6600/Radeon 4890 system has provided. Is a current Haswell or Ivy Bridge-E good enough, or should I wait for maybe a Haswell-E 8-core?

My concern with the Ivy Bridge-E is that it puts out a lot of heat for a small case to handle. Also, I haven't heard of any AMD processors on the horizon that are as "future-proof" as the Intel chips.

Thanks in advance!

Solution
A Haswell i7 will do great for a few years to come. A 4930k will give you an extra year or two. Heat will not be an issue with proper cooling/ventilation.
The Haswell chips put out more heat than the Ivy Bridge-E chips due to the Haswell ones only having TIM between the die and IHS, whereas the higher end socket 2011 chips are soldered, allowing for more efficient heat transfer.
