I'm building my first i7, OCed, and Liquid cooled computer.
What size power supply do I need?

I'm a graphic designer and website developer/programmer.
I might game a bit, but don't mind sacrificing ascetics for a playable frame rate.

Here's what I've proposed:

Power Supply:
CORSAIR CMPSU-1000HX 1000W ATX12V 2.2 / EPS12V 2.91 SLI Ready
$259.99

Motherboard:
ASUS P6T Deluxe V2 LGA 1366 Intel X58 ATX Intel Motherboard
289.99

Processor:
Intel Core i7 920 Nehalem 2.66GHz 4 x 256KB L2 Cache 8MB L3 Cache LGA 1366 130W Quad-Core Processor
279.99
(Is it worth getting the D0 stepping?)

RAM:
Kingston HyperX 6GB (3 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 2000 (PC3 16000) Triple Channel Kit Desktop Memory
245.99

Video Card: (Maybe x2)
XFX GX260NADBF GeForce GTX 260 Black Edition Core 216 896MB 448-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card
228.99

Hard Drives:
Storage
Western Digital Caviar Black WD1001FALS 1TB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s
109.99

Performance
Western Digital Raptor WD740ADFD 74GB 10000 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 1.5Gb/s
99.99

There will be between 5 and 8 120mm fans that also need to be power by the cpu.

I appreciate any advice and help.

That 1000w psu in your build is major over kill.

CORSAIR CMPSU-850TX 850W ATX12V 2.2 / EPS12V 2.91 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready Active PFC Power Supply - Retail

Not to mention that Kingston memory is over priced. Save some more money with this memory here...

G.SKILL 6GB (3 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Triple Channel Kit Desktop Memory - Retail

Now take the money you saved and put it down on one of these cards, and in the future you can always pick up another one later on for two of them in SLI. That 850w psu is more than enough to push two of them.

BFG Tech BFGEGTX2851024OCPE GeForce GTX 285 1GB 512-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card - Retail

Well like Why_Me said the 1000W is an overkill for the current setup...
But it is more future proof as you can run Triple SLI when you are willing to add one more card... and the whole setup without any problems with that PSU...
+1 for the RAM and the GPU suggestion...

Well I already got the ram and it's also 2000MHz as apposed to 1600 and has much tighter timings then shown on newegg. It's also half-priced compared to what it usually retails.

Thanks for the suggestion on the PSU, for future reference, how do you know how much wattage you need for a build?

Any reason the BFG 285 as apposed to others?

With the money I'm saving from the PSU, I wouldn't mind putting towards the GPU.
