[SOLVED] Yosemite Startup Problems

Hi,

I'm having trouble starting my mid-2011 iMac. When trying to boot Yosemite it hangs with a black loading bar at ~50%.

I thought I would try restoring the mac to Snow Leopard with my install disk. The boot disk is in the mac but when I hold the option key on boot the startup disk option does not come up, the black bar reappears.

Any ideas?

Yes, it hangs at ~50% for the new macs too but soon proceeds and completes faster than usual .Wait and check for how long you've to wait .
