d20 Adventure! is excellent.

In some ways, I think that the d20 version reflects the source material better -
if nothing else, you could play a game which would feel just as pulpy even if
your characters weren't Inspired.

I highly recommend it to the doubting.

I'm curious about A! d20, but none of the stores in the area have
stocked a copy, so I don't have a way to thumb through it. Maybe you
could answer this for me: how did they convert ability mastery over to
d20? Is it a flat skill bonus or what?

Well, there are two answers to this question.

Ability mastery in the sense of an extra dot in this skill is completely absent.
d20 skills just work differently; the limits are different, so there's no room
for such a concept.

In the sense of allowing you to create super-science inventions, that ability
has been spread out into three general feats: Invent Compound, Invent Device,
and Invent Organism.

Something very like ability mastery (in terms of feel, at least) is also found
in "improved dramatic editing", which are cost reductions for the use of
dramatic editing in situations covered by broad categories like "Battle",
"Exploration", and "Sleuthing".
