Hey everyone,

Back when I made my custom PC a few years back, I ordered a Windows 7 disc and key from a third party online (since you can't buy Windows 7 from Microsoft anymore -_-). It was going fine until I think it was a year later when I started getting this annoying pop-up every 1 -10 minutes or so at different intervals which would minimize games to show me the pop-up.

Here is a picture of the pop-up: https://gyazo.com/781dd603cb80a5fa4b633e8c201dbbc8
"Optional update delivery is not working."

I was wondering if there is a way to resolve this issue by not forcing me out of my apps and games and such by tabbing me out, or to just get rid of the notification once and for all? Or possibly redirect me to a place that can sell/give me a legitimate Windows 7 key that isn't "counterfeit." It's worth noting that I also get the black desktop with the note in the bottom right-hand corner stating that my copy of windows is not genuine. Thank you in advance for any help!

Also, note: I have already used all of my resets on the key, so that can not be a viable solution.

Solution
it may depend on how cheap your copy of XP was. if you just went to a website and got a windows key for cheap then it may have been an illegal one and it just got blacklisted.

one thing you can try is try to activate it by getting the activation ID and using the activate by phone option

you can retreve the instalation ID by going to start-run- type the command slui 4 and hit enter. choose your country and click next

go to a store and buy it. still being sold at newegg.com frys.com and many other "real stores" and not " counterfeit web sites "
but for the price I would just get a Windows 10 instead, because the Win 7 license is about the same price as Win 10
