I have tried most common solutions ipconfig (....) restarting the router winsock reset etc

I was following another solution where I was to tracert an ip and then ping the IP that comes after my router ip but the request times out and I'm left confused.

Will be watching this thread closely and will provide any info ASAP. Thanks!

Have you tried these https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-networking/your-computer-appears-to-be-correctly-configured/cc0861d8-024d-4895-bf0c-6b53f252adfb?auth=1 solutions. I vote for the winsock reset.

Currently using an ethernet connection, computer doesn't have a wireless adapter. And not just microsoft.com, I can't access the internet at all. The title of the thread is the error message I receive when troubleshooting.

Only my PC is having connection problems.
Pinging 8.8.8.8 gives back Request Timed Out
DNS server settings are set to be obtained automatically if that's what you're referring to.

Yes I switched from an old one to my current new one, the problem has persisted on both cables.

try a different port on the built in switch in the back of your router where your Ethernet cable is plugged in. also check to make sure you are still receiving dhcp info dynamically (sorry if you have done this ipconfig /all will help to determine that or a possible issue)

okay so bottom right of your pc you need to open your network and sharing center>left hand side click change adapter settings>right click the adapter shown> properties>scroll down to ipv4> properties> obtain ip address information automatically> repeat with ipv6...

That's already been done.

If that has already been done then you would not be getting a no for dhcp... you have no way to talk to exterior networks without a routable IP address that is your problem....

Don't know what to tell you, it's set to automatic and it's appearing as DHCP Enabled: No

Can't exactly provide screens.

@owsie,

I have exactly the same problem I believe, tried all the suggestions probably that you tried at least. Ran ipconfig in its various forms, uninstalled drivers, manually set IP and DNS etc etc etc .....
I see your last post said you were "blocked by the router". I assume that was the cause and you fixed that ?

I cannot actually connect via a web page to my router ( 10.0.0.100 ) but according to network and sharing it is connected fine to the router but not the internet.

Appreciate if you could let me know how you "unblocked". I have looked at my router and compared what I see to other machines on the network which all work fine and cannot see any difference. It does not "appear" to be blocked.

Cheers
