This message appeared one morning, when I guess the computer was not shut down the night before, and woke from sleep mode. What "device" is MS referring to ? I could not get Signed in, but resolved the problem with shutdown and startup again. What is the purpose of the message, or must one be a MS tech to understand it ? !

did you ever put a password in system if not i would do a full scan for virus and malware in case.

I agree with scout_03 lately there have been a few phishing attempts using Microsoft's name . And they don't call or usually send emails. Check for malware or virus

After typing your password at login, click the small eye icon inside the password box to check your password. The password you see might not be the same as what you want to type, when the keyboard layout is incorrect or NumLock key is turned on.

There is also a network icon available at the login screen and you can click it to check if your PC is online or offline.
