Your Graphics Card doesn't display? READ THIS!

Hello everybody.

I had a terrible problem that took me 4 consecutive days to fix it. I built a BRAND NEW PC from Amazon. I bought a Monitor and the GTX 1050. I bought a 1366x768 Monitor so that I can play games maxed out with my GTX 1050. Since my monitor is only VGA, I am using a Display port to VGA adapter.

BUT I had this problem: PC Couldn't turn on with the Graphics Card in the PCIe Slot. When I took it out, I could turn my PC on with my Integrated Graphics. HOWEVER, when I left the card in the PCIe Slot the PC wouldn't turn on with the Integrated Graphics either. SO, I had to keep the GPU out all the time. I FIXED this by going into BIOS, changing from PCIe to IGFX. DONE. I left the graphics detection on AUTO. Now my PC turns on with the graphics connected, BUT with the monitor connected to the integrated graphics. Then I wen't on to UPDATE my DEVICE MANAGER graphics card. It was detected as Microsoft Adapter Display. I updated it and it showed: NVIDIA GTX 1050. Cool!!! Now I turn off the PC and I change the Monitor cable to the graphics. IT TURNS ON! I no longer have to use Integrated Graphics.

But, APPARENTLY, after one problem comes another... NOW I AM STUCK AT 1280X1024. My GTX 1050 can't detect a higher resolution. I COULD PLAY AT 1366X768, which is the recommended for my monitor and it looks gorgeous, with my INTEGRATED GRAPHICS, but not with the GTX...

ALL drivers are updated... I tried to update Generic PnP Monitor from Device Manager... Automatically and Manually. STILL, doesn't work. Any help with the resolution guys?

Thank you, and PLEASE, if you see any posts with people trying to fix their issue with the Graphics Card not being recognised, please offer them my solution.

I am waiting for a solution regarding my RESOLUTION problem. Thank you guys!! Hope you can help me... I just wanna be a happy gamer.

Yeah. On-board graphics are often disabled if a discrete graphics card is detected in the PCI-Ex16 expansion slot. Often, depending on the motherboard, you will need to go into the motherboard BIOS to force the on-board graphics to work.

As for your resolution issue, if you've installed the latest drivers from NVidia.com for your graphics card/OS, you should not be limited to that resolution if the default/native resolution of your display is 1366x768. I would make one recommendation, however. If you just purchased this display, return it immediately. DVI (Digital Video Interface) was introduced nearly 20 years ago. IMO, no display built in the last 15 years should lack a digital input. I would guess it is this mandatory conversion from a digital output to an analog input that is restricting your display resolution.

The way I made it to work is as follows:

Nvidia Panel Control > Adjust Desktop Size and Position > Full Screen > Resolution set to 1366x768. IT'S A SCALING MODE. It's not an actual resolution.

Then I went to: Display Settings > Advanced display settings > Display adaptor properties for Display 1 > List All Modes > 1366 by 768!

Another issue arises now... I have to do this every time I reboot the computer or I log out of any game. The resolution changes automatically. Also, some games like Heroes of the Storm, Hearthstone, etc. seem to work fine, BUT Fortnite changes resolution back to 1280x1024 automatically. I am not happy. I would call this a temporary fix.
