Hello Friends

My uncle has the intention to buy the following laptop:

* HP Pavilion 16" Touchscreen Laptop - Intel Core 7 Processor 150U - WUXGA (1920 x 1200) - Windows 11

It's for himself and his son, for two uses:

* Uncle: MS Office, Adobe Reader PDF, skype, Web Browser, Spotify, VLC
* Cousin: Same as uncle and all about programming Java, .NET, PHP, MySQL and VirtualBox to work with Linux

Pls could you share your thoughts if the laptop would be a good acquisition? Of course all about hardware. He wants have the laptop at least working for 5 years. It seems my cousin is going to study computer science so this acquisition is important.

My uncle is concerned because he wants to know if the laptop has something potential "bad". It because the cost of the laptop is not around between 1000 to 1500 dollars as is normal in USA

Thanks for your understanding

Thanks for the quick reply.

Thanks for the link about the processor. I read it.

Just being more curious, what is the generation of this i7? Is not clear

Thank You.

It is outside the typical Intel 'generation' list.
But, released early this year.

Thanks for the reply

Interesting that approach
  • But: Would exist a kind of comparison about theoretically what generation would be?
  • Is there a reason of this new approach?
  • What would be your thoughts about this processor?
Thank You

Comparing to a 13th gen i7:

Single thread rating, not a lot different.

Comparable to a 12th Gen i3.

For that price, and that use....I'd give it a try.

Ah, I see what you mean - it does look too cheap to be true. However, there's absolutely nothing wrong with the brand nor its hardware components.

The CPU is a high-end notebook CPU which is vastly more than fast enough for your listed requirements.

RAM and the type of drive are just as important for system performance and responsiveness. 32GB of RAM is an astonishingly high amount for that price and the drive is fast.

I think that your uncle should buy it before it sells out.

Huge thanks for both replies

Even for Development purposes? Would be good enough?

Thanks for that point

Again thanks for that point. My uncle is worried to buy a good laptop for this son for developing purposes listed in the first post.

I am agree. But he was concerned about the processor. Other reason for this post

Thanks for the suggestion. If it depends for you. Do you would have the intention to buy it?

Thanks to all
