News YouTuber Assembles Huge 3D Then Creates Life-Size Plastic Clone

But... Why...?

I don't even find this "cool" or "interesting". It's just a waste of resources to me...

Narcissism maximum?

They could've chosen Optimus Prime, Superman from the 90's cartoon or some other interesting-to-sculpt figure, but themselves? Ugh...

Nope, I don't get it.

Regards.

I have a buddy who REALLY gets into 3d printing. Again, like you, I just don't "get it".

I think this is awesome.

Im sure people asked the Wright brothers why they would want to build a flying machine.

Why did i build a pc years ago, with two other pc's in each 5 1/4 in bay ?
Because i could.

This is cool for printing really large objects.
Again, awesome project. 😉
Props to the guy.

Sometimes, with a 3D printer, the main thought is - "Why not?"

Its not like this is the only thing that can come out of it.
All it took was some time, and cheap filament.

I've printed many totally useless thing, just because.
The "why" is not because they did it, but 'why a statue of himself'. As I said right after they could've used absolutely anything else as a model that could have been cool. At best, he can use that as a mannequin for trying out clothes.

Have you tried printing statues of yourself, by any chance?

Regards.

There was also no reason for me to print this, yet here we are...

(this is NOT giving the finger to you, rather just a totally useless thing I printed)

Having printed a 3D of himself does not preclude printing life size models of other things.

Its a sort of :

Genesis 1:27
"So God created mankind in his own image"

For the 3D printing Age, the Beginning. :)

Let there be Huge 3D Printers all over the Land.

PS : Just re-watched "Colossus the Forbin Project" and "Constantine" and I'm a bit bevvied out. 😉
