I'm looking for a Z170 motherboard the has/fits the following criteria:
1) A Legacy PCI Slot
2) As many SATA ports as possible
3) Priced not more than $200

I have an old Creative SoundBlaster X-Fi card that's a legacy PCI card, which is why I want the slot; primarily to avoid listening to crappy onboard sound, and also to avoid having to buy a new Creative soundcard.

My existing (really old) Asus P5K has 6 SATA ports, and 2 additional ones by means of an added controller. Of the 8, I'm using 7. I was previously planning to build either a Z97 based system, or a X99 based one, and both the boards I had identified had 10 SATA ports. So would like 10 at the least.

Both those boards (ASRock Z97 Extreme6, and MSI X99S Plus SLI) I had previously identified, were within the $200 price range. So I believe this should be possible.

I am not keen on the following functionality:
1) Overclocking
2) SLI / Crossfire

So I don't need boards focused on those features.

As of now, the only board that I have come across, that has a legacy PCI slot, and is under $200 is the Asus Z170-A. But it has just 6 SATA ports. Had it had more, I'd be set.

I'm aware that additional SATA ports can be added by means of addon cards, and similarly a PCIe to PCI convertor can be used. But avoiding this, are there any other board options I can consider? Thanks.

Yes, this is an awesome board. Has Creative sound on-board, 8 SATA ports, and M2 and SATA Express. I love this board and would be willing to get it, if only the price was lesser. Its a bit over budget right now.

Btw, I've found a Z170 board with legacy PCI - G1.Sniper Z170 (rev. 1.0)

I think if you read the motherboard manual, it will like my asus maximus VIII gene say that the sata express and
and sata ports are not additive.
Each sata express port is made up of two sata ports that can act in concert.
The three sata express ports can be divided into 6 sata ports.

Your best bet for extra sata capacity is to use large sata drives, I think you can get 6 or 8gb drives.
Or, a sata adapter add in card, but probably the best would be a separate nas device.
