Hellfire13 :
what is your budget for the build???
GPU (MSI 1060 6GB £240), Case (Fractal R5 £70), SSD (Samsung 850 Evo 250GB £60), HDD (WD Blue 1TB £40), PSU (Corsair Rmi 750 £80) - already have, no issues with them and got them all at good prices.
Looking for unlocked i5, i7 I believe no gain for gaming for the extra £100 - correct?
Already seen 2x8gb ddr4 2400 ram for £50.
Then the motherboard, mid-upper end and would like to match colour scheme, which is why gaming 7 and hero 8 from original post.
Cautious about kabylake over skylake, it's new, fewer reviews and marginal gains. Then there is no windows 7 with it, which I still use. At least with skylake (cpu+mobo) shouldn't be any suprises and I've seen deals on them all. Ryzen - end of march if I'm correct, but full fat information yet to judge. Rumours/leaks are nice so far and would consider it, but at least two months to wait to get a proper look at all variants (4c, 4c+4t, etc).
As for budget, that would mean the cpu and motherboard, the cpu would be £230/240 for any i5, but seen the 6600k go for around £195, motherboard would be £200, but have the hero 8 discounted to £100/150. Wouldn't get that with kabylake.
