hello people, i m an architect and i want to configure a system for my 3d renders. i work in the following softwares:- revit, photoshop, 3ds max, lumion, rhinoceros etc.

i was planning to buy an i7 6700k along with a gtx 1060 6gb. AS you can see i m not gonna have multiple gpus anyway.

my main questions is: Shoud i go with the z170 motherboard or the cheaper b150/h170 motherboard and invest in a ssd or the gtx 1070 with the money i save? ( i alredy have a samsung 850evo 250gb in my build)

i know that if i go with the z170 motherboard, i will be able to overclock the i7 6700k. So, the question is: is it worth it to spend extra money on the motherboard for overclocking with respect to my working conditions?? And if i go with the h110 motherboard, should i still go for the 6700k or the non-k version of it(i.e. 6700)??? AND what else features would be compromised on the cheaper b150/h110 compared to z170 motherboards????

Solution
For the price difference and because your not overclocking your system, save monies and get latest CPU versions.
I would not worry about overclocking in a working environment, the gain would be minimal, you need stability.
you have an SSD, you dont need another, you would need a nice 1 tb WD Black or blue versions to store all that Photoshop brushes and project on.

I would do I7-7700, B250 board.
CPU: Intel Core i7-7700 3.6GHz Quad-Core Processor ($308.74 @ OutletPC)
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-B250M-DS3H Micro ATX LGA1151 Motherboard ($76.99 @ SuperBiiz)
Total: $385.73

would i not loose on any significant features of the z170s

the only real differences from a b250 and a z170, is the bumped up heatsink and capacitors (aside possibly added usb ports and such trinkets) the Z boards are usually build a little more beefed up in expectation of the overclocking and the demands it puts on the traces on the board and the components.
a B250 will handled everything the 7700 will make it do.
