Z170 with 7th gen processor?

So I ordered a new motherboard. The
Z170-AR and then i found out i need a sixth gen processor to possibly get it started however i have an i-7700k. I was wondering if i absolutely have to buy a new cpu? i read on a forum on here that newer z170's come updated usually so they dont need a sixth gen to be set up, is there any merit to this also?

Try it. The Bios may be up to date. If not get a used skylake celeron on ebay from somebody who accepts returns.

I bought a Celeron G3900 just to do such bios updates after spending $20 and 3 days at a pc shop for a flash on a cheap b150 board with a g4560 first time. Updated more boards since then.

I'd like to find one in town but its a small town without many computer shops but the G3900 is what i heard would work. Thanks for answering!
