The set ending in RR is the Ripjaws 4 line of DRAM, which were aimed at the X99 series mobos, while the set ending in VR is the Ripjaws V, the newest ((currently) line of DRAM from GSkill, they are soon to release the new Trident Z line of DRAM), the Ripjaws V line are slightly optimized towards dual channel as in the Z170 chipset. They will work on either X99 or Z170 but might see ever so slight performance differences with the V in the Z170 and the 4 in X99 from the different advanced timings
