So I was looking to buy the z370 aorus ultra gaming to overclock an i5 8600k and I just ran across the problem that the VRMs can get to 125C on the aorus line up (excluding gaming 5 and 7 prob). *Apparently*, there's is a manual fix to it. Can someone give me some insight on it? Should I pick another mobo for OCing ( note that I'm already really close to my motherbord budget limit) ?

I honestly can't recommend the Z370 AORUS Ultra Gaming either but that's me. If you like the bling of RGB lighting and do not intend to Overclock your CPU to much more than 200MHz beyond it's stock frequency and keep Core voltage below 1.375V then the board represents decent value at its current price.
If your intended use is for video editing or rendering then this is not the MB for you.

You obviously will want to Overclock having a "K" processor however how much mileage you get will depend on how hot the VRMs get and your Cooling system.

I say this cause i'm a power user and Bias toward ASUS MBs for Overclocking which I do a lot of.
ASUS are solid and high end boards of this design have decent VRM caps that don't overheat like the...
Bad enough that VRMs overheat at stock settings. If your intent on Overclocking your I5-8600K then choose a better MB. Anything on the MB that reaches close to 100C is not going to last long imo.

Thermal Design of the Gigabyte Z370 Aorus Gaming 7 is questionable and many have this issue. I would not believe anything Gigabyte says that suggests that this is OK. I don't believe there is a genuine fix either.

This is what I found: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yrjHkFVNooE and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HKeGOkJoiIA

Well he explains the problem well. However, Why should you apply your own fix and void Warranty on a board that has poor thermal and Phase design. Definitely not meant for Serious Overclocking.

Here is a better Review: https://linustechtips.com/main/topic/854165-gigabyte-z370-ultra-gaming-vrm-issues-are-back/

So what mobo do you recommend ( I was willing to spend just $150 initially, would go for the aorus ultra for being apparently a better deal for the price I could find *ON AMAZON* ) ?

Here is a decent review of the Z370 AORUS Ultra.

I won't make a recommendation as your budget constrained and favour Gigabyte however I wish you the best of luck in whatever you choose.:)

The warranty is not a problem for me because I cant use it on another country anyway. I plan to OC it to 5ghz, but honestly just for gaming, dont do video editing or rendering. So prob I'm better buying the aorus and trying out the "fix", as it is really simple and probably will solve the problem (luckily). Thanks I guess...
