z370 vs z390 boards

im searching for a new mobo to go with the 8700k.

i noticed alot of the z390 are only £35ish more than the z370's.

i know the z390's are made for the 9th gen chips but is there any advantage to getting it for the 8700k? better overclocking/better power efficiency ect.

In terms of connectivity and expansion slots the 2 MSI motherboards are quite similar.
The only important difference between them is power delivery.

On the Z370 one looks like you have a 3+3 phase design.. 3 phases are dedicated for the CPU.

On the Z390 looks like you have a 6+3 phase design with 6 phases dedicated for the CPU. So the Z390 board has beefier power delivery for the power hungry i9-9900k. That also means that Overclocking is better on this motherboard, because OCing also implies more power that needs to be fed to the CPU so better power delivery matters here.

If the price difference is not that big between them, than the Z390 motherboard would be the better choice since you're considering overclocking.
