Z390-E constant yellow DRAM light

Hi! I just put together my new build but it will not power on. When powering the PC the mobo (z390-e) red CPU light flickers on, then off. Right after the yellow DRAM light is consistently on. I've tried moving around the ram, using only one slot, two slots etc. I've also taken out the GPU. Any ideas what can be wrong?

Hi redbullsloth :) Assuming your RAM is not faulty.

Your i7-8700K officially supports 2666MHz RAM and although the MB will support over 4000MHz OC RAM you are using 3000MHz OC RAM so there is no guarantee they will work without Bios intervention.

You will need to get into your Bios however if your DRAM_LED is constantly lit then Post will not advance to enable Bios access.

First update your Bios to 0702 and try that: https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/ROG-STRIX-Z390-E-GAMING/HelpDesk_BIOS/
If your not sure how then I will explain in detail.

OFC here we have a catch 22 as you must be in Bios to update with the ROG STRIX Z390-E GAMING MB.

If you can't past Post and your using a current single DIMM in slot A2 then you will have to obtain another RAM kit at 2133, 2400, or 2666MHz from the MB QVL to test. If then you are able to access Bios you can manually configure your OC RAM to their rated speed manually.

List the Part Number of your Current RAM Kit.?
Also: Have you tried your MEMOK switch. It is usually on by default however it may be off. Follow instructions on page 1-9 in your manual.
 


CMK16GX4M2B3000C15 are indeed listed on the MB QVL so have been tested and should work.
Once in Bios you may have to enable XMP 2.0 which should set frequency to 3000MHz if they default to 2666MHz initially.
