[SOLVED] Z390 master and Msi 3090 issue

So I managed to get a 3090. Upgrading from a 2090ti but I keep getting B2 Error code everytime the 3090 is plugged in. But will function fine with the 2090 ti, I have updated bios, enable CMS. Changed pci slot, power connectors, but keep getting the same code. I'm at a lost I am really holding off on a new windows installed since that wont be a guarantee fix to that error code.
System spec:
Cpu: i9 9900k
PSU: evga supernova 1000
Ssd: 2tb m.2
Memory: 32gb ram

Hey man, I'm convinced. I mean, I was pretty sure it was the card from the start, but you always want to go through the process because parts are expensive and RMAs are time consuming. It sucks, but looking at it realistically it's bound to happen to a few people when they are trying to crank out the units to at least minimally keep up with demand. It's just unfortunate that it had to be YOUR card that had an issue, if in fact that is the case.
What motherboard?

What graphics card, because there is no such thing as a 2090 ti. 2080 ti is what I think you meant to say. And if that works fine but the 3090 doesn't, then it pretty much has to either be a lack of support in the BIOS for that architecture or a bad card.

Did you "manage to get" that card brand new or through a 3rd party/used?
 
Try this.

Shut down.

Flip the switch on the back of the PSU to the "0" position, which is off. Unplug it from the wall.

Remove the side panel and remove the graphics card.

Remove the CMOS battery from the motherboard. Press the power button on the case for about ten seconds.

Reinstall the CMOS battery. Install the RTX 3090 and reconnect any cables including auxiliary PCIe power and display output.

Plug the PSU back into the wall socked. Flip the switch on the PSU back to the "I" position. Power on the system and see if you get a signal at all.
 
You ARE plugging in ALL 3 8 pin power connectors, right?

You've checked to be sure nothing is interfering with the card actually seating fully in the slot?

If those are both good then I'd say it's likely a bad card although it could be a BIOS issue and you might want to contact Gigabyte regarding video card Gen support questions.
 
A Windows install shouldn't have anything to do with the card not being recognized at all, or giving up errors when you try to POST. Now, if the card works, and there is a display, but the display is lost when it actually starts to boot Windows, then THAT is a totally different thing.

But if there is no display signal...............at all, then that has ZERO to do with Windows, as no drivers could even possibly be at issue or loaded at that time. It requires getting past the POST process before Windows drivers could cause display issues.
 
And you are using the exact same display cable when you try both graphics cards?

You might want to try a different display cable, AND also a different cable TYPE. If you are currently using HDMI, try displayport. If you are using displayport, try HDMI. Sometimes the initial usage requires HDMI, for whatever reason. Hardware can be fickle like that sometimes. It shouldn't matter, but we've seen plenty of cases where it has mattered.

Otherwise, I'd be inclined to believe it's the card if all else is equal between the system working with the 2080 ti and not with the 3090.

at this point it's the card, i had a friend bring over his rig and the same error is seen on his Arous Z490 Ultra Motherboard and he have a founder edition 3080. i have tried with two different HDMI cable and Display port cable along with 4 different monitor
