Hello Forum,

I'm currently using a Corsair 800 GS PSU and upgrading to an i5 10600k + using an RTX 2080. I just noticed the new LGA1200/Z490 motherboards require CPU 8 Pin + 4 Pin. I really don't want to purchase a new PSU for this motherboard. From what I've researched, some motherboards only need the single 4+4 (8 pin) to power on and the extra 4 pin is for extreme overclocking. But other research indicates the motherboard won't power on without the extra 4 pin plugged in. Here's the question. I've located PCI-Express 6 pin to 4 pin EPS adapters on amazon. My power supply is SLI rated and has 2 extra pci-express 6+2 pin cables. I do plan to overclock the CPU, hopefully obtaining 4.8 to 5 ghz on the CPU all cores.

Would using the adapter cable for the 4 pin CPU work in this situation? Or do I need to buy a new PSU for the Z490 Aorus Elite AC? Below are the links to the adapter and the Newegg description of my power supply. The corsair site shows little info about my PSU and the Newegg site has a better description.
