I could be getting this for very cheap so upgrading this into a pair of x5650 can make it a rendering beast. Besides, who doesn't like building systems anyways? I've googled around that some boards can and cannot and I'm a ittle mixed up. is it possible to do so without checking the bios?

Skip it. Not worth buying a busted motherboard.

I don't know how great the deal is that you are looking at. You can buy the proper part number for $70 including shipping on eBay from multiple resellers.

By the way. That Z600 motherboard looks to be a proprietary form factor. If you don't have a Z600 case. Be prepared to do some work to get it to fit.

You can also look at Intel, Supermicro, ASUS, Foxconn, Tyan, &c motherboards. Just be sure they have PCI-e x16 slots as many are loaded up with x8. That way you can find one which is ATX, E-ATX or SSI-EEB...

no I'm not sure, that's all it says sadly :[ I asked the guy selling it but he said he doesn't have a photo and won't show me. It's brand new apparently and 8 left so I would really not want to lose the offer as it's very cheap. Is there any other way I can check the date? can I simply ask when the board was manufactured or something?thank you very much!

so I have compared the serial numbers and there is slight variations. For example, the serial code for the rev 2 board ends with 003 while this ends with 002 and some other changes. Does that mean I don't have any luck with this working?

I don't think that board is compatible with Westmere. You'll likely be stuck with Nehalem.

The board you pictured has the part number SP: 461439-001 and assembly number AS: 460840-002

The board you want has the part number SP: 591184-001 and assembly number AS: 460840-003

okay so I've asked the seller and he said he has one that ends with 003, but the catch here is that there pcie x16 slot is broke :| so I'd have to use the x4 slot. I assume this would seriously cripple some middle end gpu like the RX 480? or is that not even supported?

Definitely steer clear of Dell boards if you don't want to mod a case.

This is to rest many minds out there about the Z600 Revision 1 ending in 002, You can only run 1 5660 2.8GHZ Six core processor, Not 2. It works flawless as I type this article, If you want a dual setup you are better just buying 5550 or 5570 processors. I ended up purchasing C2 revision motherboard on ebay for 48 dollars and a 24GB memory kit. Now I don't have to sell my entire pc. Don't waste your time modding or trying to figure out how to get those 5600 processors to work in dual configuration it will not work, 1 works for sure, but for the price of the 5600s it is worth just buying a C2 revision board to get the highest clock possible, because you cannot overclock the Z600s. Note: The only thing expensive these days are the factory cpu heatsinks 40.00 dollars for one is a lot when you can get 2 5675 for 80.00 or best offer. The Z600 are a beast, I tried to save money for the Z800 which has a better offering. For the videocard option for the Z600, I am going with a Pny gtx 1070 which has 1 8 pin connector. Or just go with a GTX 1060 3GB version with 1 6 pin low powered. All problems solve. It was a headache to get info on the Z600. Just get straight to the point. See Ya
