Whenever I enter setup into the uefi menu everything is initially fine, but the moment I try to change almost anything the mouse/keyboard become unresponsive.
I can enter the flash utility without an issue, but try to change any setting such as drive priorities or even clicking or keying to the settings menu thats it, the keyboard/mouse wont respond. I can see the time/date and temp changing so the system hasn't fully locked up.
I've tried a different mouse / keyboard, different usb ports.
I've reset the cmos via jumper pin, powered on and get hit f2 to enter setup, system locks up at this point. Reboot and we're back the the same situation.
I've swapped out memory modules and tried different slots.
I can even boot into windows just fine.
I'd like to be able to disable the on board gpu and enable xmp.
While an old system it's still quite capable for many tasks so it would be nice to get it up and running properly and have 2 options as I see it unless anyone has some suggestions?

I leave it as is, it might not be optimal but it's working.

I try to flash the bios/uefi from either the board utility or the msi live update software via windows.

There are somewhat dated tools from msi to change bios settings for this board from windows however these give the same issue as before.

My thanks to anyone who chimes in on this, have a good day o/

USB? Try with PS/2 KB. That should fix your issue.

MSI MoBos, older ones, have issues with USB KB/mice within BIOS. E.g yours is Z77 chipset and you have issues. In my 2nd PC, i have MSI Z97 chipset MoBo and i can not enter nor navigate BIOS with USB KB. I have to use PS/2 KB for that. No such issue with my MSI Z170 chipset MoBo though.
