z87 extreme4, updating bios

Hey,
I have z87 extreme4 from ASRock motherboard. I must update BIOS version because actually i5 4690k (devil's canyon) is comming to me. My current BIOS version is P2.40-15B (if I look at correct place). The question is, will PC start with 4690k with this old BIOS-version to get into BIOS and make instant flash? Or is there any other option to get into BIOS withOUT processor (I've read that on ASUS motherboards it is possible to get into BIOS without CPU) ???

You have a ASrock so that USB BIOS flashback that certain ASUS motherboard have isn't on your motherboard.
It would most likely not work. If you can find a computer repair shop that has an older haswell cpu that you can use to update yours. If not, then you may need to buy a cheap haswell cpu just to update it.
