Hello. Recently I got z87-g43 Gaming mobo and I can't get it to work with my ram. I have 2 sticks of kingston hyperx beast 2x8GB. They were tested with memtest86+ in DIMM 1 and 2 but the pc restarts when any of them plugged into 3 and 4. I don’t think that the memory itself is defective because I could install windows XP with both sticks in 1-2 slots. The thing is that i cant install windows 8.1. I'm getting the "kernel_security_check_failure" error message as soon as windows installer boots up from the DVD. I've tried to unplug graphics card and any other optional devices but it didn\'t help. Windows PE cannot be installed-the same error pops up. Windows 8/8.1 feature is enabled. Every component is listed in the bios menu.

Solution
Sounds more and more like bent pins. I had a similar problem and that was the cause. I RMA'ed the MB to MSI and they sent a completely new boxed MB to me within a couple of days.

Was that XP 32 bit? If so, it was only "seeing" 3.2 GB of memory.

First, is this a matched pair of DIMMs bought as a kit or 2 - 8 GB sticks from separate packages?

Next, MSI "pairs" the memory slots so that slot #1 goes with slot #3, and slot #2 goes with slot #4. I highly doubt that this will solve your problem, but you might try installing your DIMMs in the recommended slots.

If that doesn't help, Try each stick separately, one at a time, in each slot to see if that will show that a specific slot or slots are not working.

Do you have any spare DIMMs that you can test or maybe you can borrow some from a friend?

Last, but not least, take out your CPU and closely examine the MB CPU socket for any bent pins. This is the most likely culprit so look closely under a magnifying glass using a bright light source.

2x8GB Kit-KHX16C9T3K2/16X and I've tested it like this (2-4 recommended):
1-3-restarts during memtest;
2-4-restarts
single stick in 1 and 2 runs fine without errors
single stick in 3 or for freezest or restarts the whole computer

Even tho the memtest restarts, computer boots up to the bios without any problems and RAM is visable. I've managed to install Windows XP but 8.1 gives me that kernel error. Couldnt install Ubuntu 13.10-pc rebooted during installation.
Ill check the pins as soon as I get something to clean up the thermal paste.
