Hello,

I am planning my new system. This is what I am thinking of:

Case: Bitfenix Prodigy (black)
Motherboard: Asus Z87i-Pro
CPU: Intel i5 4670k
CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-D14
RAM: G.SKILL 1866MHZ RIPJAWS X (2x8GB)
GPU: Asus GTX 760
PSU: Corsair TX650
SSD: Samsung 840 Pro 128GB
HDD: WD 1TB Caviar Black

I am also planning to install a 230mm front fan on the case, as well with a rear 140mm.

My basic question is this:

Will the NH-D14 fit in the case, with the mobo and the GPU and the RAM no problem at all?

Furthermore, I am concerned about whether I will be able to have front, rear and 1 top 120mm fan WITH the 5.25" drive bay installed and functional.

Any recommendations more than welcome.

PS.: Peripherials:

Monitor: Dell U2412M
Speakers: Logitech Z906

Get a low Profile Memory for the Noctua is better , as for the GTX 760 , I would get the GTX 770 and drop the SSD for a while , you cant add any SLI later in this PC .. so make the GPU worth it .

are you buying from USA ? and what is your budget ?

and do you need a hint ? dont use DVD at all ... get a USB one is cheap and use it external when you need it ... you will never use DVD much .. just few times a year lol ..

use the front DVD bay for somthing cool .. like hotswap bay , or Remote bay with equalizer .. there are many cool things you can do with that bay

here are some examples :

1- http://www.thermaltake.com/products-model.aspx?id=C_00001852

2- http://www.soundgraph.com/vfd-feature-en/ , with this , you can turn on and off your pc using remote , and control it as well using the remote.

3- fan controlers

Even thought at the compatibility list Ripjaws X are listed as compatible, I will consider your advise.

I am not what you call a gamer. I may play a game sometime, but to be honest I was thinking even not getting a GPU and sticking with the Intel HD 4600. So from that POV I think its a good solution

I am buying from Greece, and my Budget is around 1400€ for the tower

Here you are 100% right. I will do just that

Very neat stuff. I will have them in my mind but I will put something like that only after I set up the rest of the system.

Mainly because my top priority is to see how and if the NH-D14 will fit in the system described

Looks ok, but NH-D14 looks great, not just okay

I don't think that an mini ITX will better than Asus ones, just like it was with z77 chipset

In fact I have a friend who has the prodigy and has the exact PSU I listed above, so that way is the best for me to not take any risk.

Very , very interesting, thank you very much

I have seen this. It gives me hope the ASUS z87 chipet mini itx mobo will fit the NH-D14, since the z77 one did

Yes I have seen it. It is cound of too expensive and not necessary for me...

Thank you all very much for your answers, I apreciate it alot.

My initial question remains, will the NH-D14 fit in a Prodigy with an Asus z87i-pro motherboard AND an Asus GTX 760?

I am sorry, am I missing something here?
I am asking if a z87i-pro will fit the NH-D14 and this movie u showed me has a Z77 motherboard, yes actually fitting the NH-D14.

Unfortunately my question still remains :(

ah I understand now ,

You are worried about the power card right ?

here is the same motherboard design but Z77 with the power card :

normal_ASUS-P8Z77-I-Deluxe_09.jpeg

normal_ASUS-P8Z77-I-Deluxe_05.JPG

if it is the same it will fit.

They claim the have space for modern coolers in this

Designed and tested for the best compatibility
Case and CPU-cooler compatibility is extremely important for mini-ITX gamers and enthusiasts. That’s why ROG has performed hundreds of tests and modifications to perfect Maximus VI Impact’s layout to ensure maximum compatibility with both mini-ITX chassis designs and CPU coolers.

http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/MAXIMUS_VI_IMPACT/#overview

I cant say 100% , but 99% it will fit (sorry did not install this mobo yet )

one more thing , you said you are not a hardcore gamer , why are you insisting on this huge heatsink ?

Yes that is exactly what I am concerned of.

99% is pretty good to me! I spoke with Noctua and asked them and they could not tell either cause they did not have the board on their hands yet. They told me that it should fit, but they told me something that I did not understand. They told me that since I am fitting a graphics card I may have to remove a fan from the cooler.

This didn't make much sense to me and I think that they said it just to be covered. Either way, I think that ASUS will have consider the possibility someone to use the Z87i-Pro with their GTX 760 and with the best air cooler available

Well I am going to Overclock that baby as higher as I can (with as lower voltages I can though) and I do not like water cooling systems

Since no one is actually sure, I think I will go for it and we will see :p

it is a new mobo , released in June :) and most people are going water cooling these days . and Avoiding Huge Coolers ..

but yes I think it will fit , and I will keep it at 99% so I dont be a liar lol.. unless they changed the height of the power card :)

one more thing .. are you going for bitfenix for the size or the look ?

there is a same size case that takes Micro Atx Motherboard and SLI with good cooling.

you can see it here :

see this movie to the end :

So here is the answer. It does fit. Perfectly.

The only thing is that either my motherboard or cpu is cooked out of the box. The system does not even post.

The only thing it does is move the cpu fan 1cm and then nothing.

The motherboard leds show nothing at all. The only powered led is that of the power

Tried USB Bios flashback, tried MemOK. Haven't tried praying yet tough
