Hi everybody, I need to update BIOS because the new Corsair Vengeance Pro 1866 memories run at only 1333 MHz and when I try to enable XMP, PC doesn't boot and I need to clear CMOS. I want to use BIOS flashback, I have downloaded the latest BIOS from Asus and put the unzipped file (renamed as Z87ST.CAP) in a FAT32 formatted usb drive. It's the first time I update the BIOS and I'm afraid of bricking my new motherboard. Should I update BIOS? What problems could I encounter with BIOS flashback if something goes wrong? Thanks a lot.

Update BIOS if there is a problem that an update might correct. Does the update say to increase memory compatibility or some such?

You might have to adjust the timings, the cas etc manually for the memory. Which kit do you have? A 2 x 4GB or what?

Make sure that the timings are: 9-10-9-27

I think 9-9-9-24 might even work.

With the Flashback you can flash the BIOS even if the CPU is not supported. It's safer with EZ Flash.
Have you tested the other 2 slots with you RAM modules and still no go with the XMP?

Hi, I have 2x4GB, official timings are 9-10-9-27. On Asus' website there's one earlier update that says "Fix XMP button issue". I don't know how manually adjust memory parameters, when I enabled XMP all the profiles where good but after a reboot PC failed boot so I had to clear CMOS.
