z97-a not booting or even posting

So this issue started happening seemingly out of the blue. it started about a week ago with my monitor not turning on, after turning my pc on and off several times it finally started working, had 0 issues playing games and doing anything. this would happen every once in a while until it now wont post at all no matter how hard i try. the boot_device red light is on and also my pciex16_1 light is on a few times when i turned it only the boot device light was on is there any way to fix this? is my motherboard bad? please let me know
I have tried:
-completely powering down
-cmos reset
-benching it(still not even going to bios)
-each ram stick in different slots( when no ram is in the dram light comes on and the other two lights do not.)
-unpluging and replugging hdd
-cleaning it

Wd blue 1tb
motherboard: asus z97-a
build is about 3 years old.
i expect that something is broken and id like to know what so i can go ahead an buy the parts while the black friday deals are happening
