z97 Asrock fatal1ty killer - only onboard graphics works.

Hopefully someone will be able to help me. I'm trying to use my MSI 7870 on a asrock board. There aren't any beep codes and all I'm getting is a black screen. I've tried both pci-e slots to no avail. The only thing that seems to work is onboard VGA. The onboard hdmi doesn't work either...? I've tried disabling csm and disabling onboard graphics. Flashing the bios didn't do anything either. Is there anything I'm missing?

Specs are i5 4690k, asrock z97 fatal1ty, 8gigs G skill ripjaws, HD 7870
OS: win 7 home premium

Yo,

Most likely a motherboard malfunction, I was led to this conclusion because of the fact that you said "The HDMI port isn't working either" and so with the PCI port (most likely not working) and the HDMI slot not working then it is most likely a motherboard malfunction, I doubt it's a GPU issue.

Suggestions would be to either RMA the board or buy a whole new one!

This is interesting,,, Just tested the card on another board and still nothing. Going to try some other old cards if I can find them.

Do you have Primary Video in the BIOS set to PEG/PCI-E?

Yes its set to pci-e. Update the card is good. Might be a bad hdmi port on the monitor. Didnt have dvi on hand. Going to test it in a few.

Does the monitor have a input selection on the monitor itself (i.e. in it's menu)

The whole time it was that my monitors HDMI port isn't working. Silly of me not to check that. I was using the monitor earlier so I guess i just spaced that. Thanks for all the help!
