I was recently trying to made some modifications to my build, and I noticed one particular pin on my CPU base looking wierd, I'm not sure what it is or how it got there. Here is a video:

1. Did I cause this? How did I manage to do it to a single pin right in the middle?
2. Will it cause any issues? Can I try putting the processor and running it?

P.S. Afaik, It was covered with the plastic cap.

Solution
You can try it, might be fine might have issues, no way to tell without trying. It may have been you or could have arrived this way, I generally suggest to people to video opening the mobo boxes and examing the socket with video as just about every e and re-tailer out there will blame you for the damage as will the manufacturers

Might trying ruin my processor?

I set it up with just the basics and got Windows to work (Atleast till the desktop, after login). Does this mean it works? Can there be a remote possibility that that particular pin just wasn't activated, yet?

I've installed all 4 RAM cards, 3 drives and graphics card, works fine so far (except a heating issue, but hopefully my h80i can fix that). Could some issue be yet hidden?

Just finishing putting most of the stuff together. Processor seems to work well so far, and these are the lowest temps I've *ever* seen at full load. Period.

Until the H80i, the 4790k touched 100C in just a few secs under load.
