That is a basic cable to connect to and power the motherboard. Both the large 24-pin and smaller 8 (or 4+4, or even 4-pin on older mobos/PSUs) are required to be connected.
As you have found, the pin configuration is different between the 6+2 PCIe (VGA) and 8 or 4+4 (CPU) connections. This is to prevent damage to devices as the power delivered by each is specific to its use and they are not compatible with each other.

Just going to ask a quick question, I emailed EVGA and since I bought it from Amazon they can't help me, is there anyway i can purchase the cords somewhere else? Would this work

No, don't use that cable. You need the cable specific for the PSU you are using. Not all manufacturers use the same pin configuration on the PSU side of the cable. The motherboard end is standard, but not on the end that physically attaches to the PSU (for modular PSUs).
I would return the entire PSU to Amazon if it is missing parts. Did you purchase from Amazon, proper, or from one of their many resellers?
