I've bought three z97 boards over the last 6 months (MsI. Gigabyte, Asrock) and I get exactly the same problem with all. They work fine for a month or two, then I switch on one day and the monitor goes into standby mode, saying there is no signal. Since I can't boot it, there's no way of checking for problems. Is there a general problem with z97 m'boards, or am I just unlucky?

Sorry, I should have been more explicit. Case is a Corsair, psu is 850W (EVGA) When this happens, I try DVI-D instead of HDMI, try different graphics cards, try the in-built Intel graphics. Nothing works. cpu is i-7 6600. Cpu cooler is the stock Intel one; when the computer is running normally, I get no overheating issues. Very occasionally, constant repressing of the reset will *sometimes* get the computer to boot... not an ideal solution!

Have you checked your psu i know those are good psus but every once in a while a bad one will show up you could try swapping a different one in and see if the issue remains May or may not be the issue but at least its something to try if you have used all the same components in your system and just swapped out the mother boards.

Almost the 1st thing I thought of.... at the time my psu was a 700W Corsair. When various strategies failed (change memory, different graphics cards, etc) I went out and bought the 850W psu. That works fine with other m'boards I put in it.... but not with the Z97. Oh, and a slight error with my specs... obviously not an i7 6600, that's Gen 6 cpu. an i7 5400, I think... whatever, not a K.
