I have a pretty good idea of the pros and cons between things like i7-4790k vs i5-4690k. So please try not to bring up the hyper threading thing xP.

Given the insane high price of DDR4 and entry level (still enthusiast) motherboards like the Asus X99-A. Is it worth the premium price just to gain two more cores from something like the 5820k for games? Keep in mind, I play CPU and GPU intensive games such as..Star Citizen, Battlefield 4, Total War Series, Arma 3, Dayz, Assassin's Creed Unity, Skyrim, Far Cry 3, Far Cry 4, Tomb Raider... pretty much all the big ones, all CPU and GPU based games. Graphics are not a part of this discussion, a 980 is already in the pipeline. So no need to tell me to save up for a better GPU..x]]

Prices to get started on either platform
X99-5820k
Motherboard- $280
CPU- $390
(DDR4) RAM- $320 16GB
----------------------
$990 Start up price
OR

Z97-4690k
Motherboard- $140
CPU- $235
(DDR3) RAM- $160 16GB
------------------
$535 Start up price

Is the performance of DDR4 and 6 Core worth the cost?
CPU Discussion is welcome
Thanks!
