Z97i plus Asus m.2 compatibility

Hi, I'm going to be purchasing a z97i plus Asus motherboard to use with a 4790k. The motherboard has m.2 compatibility. I've never used m.2 before but I would like to buy an m.2 sad to install the OS on. I understand that the m.2 is compatible with both SATA and PCIE interfaces. I've benn reading a bit about pcie lanes and how they can have an impact on other pcie devices and I'm a bit confused as to what is compatible with the board. I'm going to be using a 1070 gfx card if that makes any difference.

I'd appreciate if somebody can tell me if either of these drives will work with the board.

the pcie type only support x2 lane. so the 600p would be about half of what you might get. http://ark.intel.com/products/94921/Intel-SSD-600p-Series-256GB-M_2-80mm-PCIe-3_0-x4-3D1-TLC

might just as well get the sandisk x400

and it better with larger disk too.
